Since its establishment in 2008, Oman Human Rights Commission (OHRC) continues to realize its vision and deliver the message in relation to human rights protection due to the great efforts exerted by the members and employees of the Commission as well as the activities and programs held by the Commission in relation to raising the awareness about human rights.
OHRC was keen in the second period (2013-2016) to follow up and protect the human rights and basic freedoms in the Sultanate, according to its jurisdictions specified in the Royal Decree No. (124/2008). The Commission also cooperated with various national institutions in order to promote the culture of human rights and responsibilities and gain the trust of different segments of the society. OHRC held number of regional and international meetings and visits in relation to human rights, in addition to acquiring number of memberships in regional and international human rights organizations. Moreover, the Commission received (146) civil, political, social, economic, cultural, environmental and developmental complaints.
OHRC reflected his majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said’s great attention to the human in Oman by reviewing the laws and legislations to correspond and realize the interests of the people, protect their rights, provide them a dignified life, and realize justice and equality.
